180 knots/sq. in. Central Asia , mid 20th Century Regular price - $1,200. SALE $ 595. !! Includes Free Shipping in Continental USA
It is very unusual to find a Turkoman prayer rug these days and, even more so, one from Central Asia, the ancestral home of the Turkoman clans. This is truly a rug that was woven to commemorate a Haj, or pilgramage, to the Holy Shrines in Mecca and, probably, one that was taken there in order to sell and pay for some or all of the trip. There is some script and numbers woven into the upper left section of the field that is hard to see. My best guess is that the script was woven to give the date and other information of the Haj. This rug certainly dates from the mid-20th Century. In any case, this is a very nicely woven and finely knotted semi-antique prayer rug with all wool pile, warp and weft. Every Oriental rug, carpet or weaving presented here
is guaranteed to satisfy the purchaser or a refund will be made upon return
of the purchased item(s) to East-West Ashland, OR 97520.
