 While this piece would normally be put into the 'Baluch' category by most rug people, I'm a bit puzzled by it and think it is a 'hybrid' of some sort where we have a mixed origin of weaver and family. This would be more closely identified as "Timuri / Kurd" in my book. In any case, it is an interesting prayer rug with good pile. The sides cords have been re-overcast and the ends stabilized, which  makes knowing more about the weaver a challenge. It is all hand-spun wool pile, weft and warp. Afghan prayer rugs have become increasingly difficult to find and I have no reason to believe that it will get any better!
